Healthy and Fun Halloween Treats
Halloween doesn’t have to be all about candy! Check out these fun and healthier choices for Halloween treats for your kids.
Silly Fruit Bites
Preparation time: 20 min
16 servings
Ingredients:
- 4 apples, each quartered
- 1/4 cup peanut butter
- 1/4 cup sunflower seeds
- 1/4 cup strawberry or raspberry jam
- 4 strawberries, sliced
- 32 candy eyes
- 1 tbs lemon juice mixed with water
Method
- Prepare apples – cut apples into quarters and slice away the apple cores. Make cuts on the apple skin to form the shape of a mouth.
- Mix lemon juice into a bowl of water and dip the apple slices in it to prevent them from browning.
- Insert sunflower seeds into the apple slices’ “mouth” to form “teeth”.
- Cut strawberries into slices. Apply peanut butter or jam on one side of the strawberry slice and stick it on the apple slice to form a “tongue”.
- Stick the candy eyes on the apple slices with peanut butter.
- Create different variations of your silly fruit bites!

Mini Spider Pizzas
Preparation time: 20 min
Cook time: 8 min
9-10 mini pizzas
Ingredients:
- 1/2 pound pizza dough
- pizza sauce of your choice or make your own mixing a can of tomatoes, fresh garlic and italian seasoning
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- black olives
Method
- Preheat the oven to 200 degrees
- Spray a baking sheet with cooking spray and set aside.
- Roll out the pizza dough and use a 3 inch round cookie cutter to cut out the mini pizzas.
- Top the pizzas with the shredded mozzarella then place in the oven to bake for about 8 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and the crust is golden.
- Remove the mini pizzas from the oven and arrange the olives on top of them creating the spiders.
