Owner Charley Maudling is a well-known character who has been at the heart of the community for decades. There isn’t much he hasn’t done: retailer, referee, DJ, Father Christmas, mayor, and local councillor. He’s been a busy fella.
Charley has been in the trade since 1964 and has always been ahead of the game when it comes to fashion.
Charles Menswear specialises in many hand-picked top brands such as Fred Perry, Guide, Ted Baker, Farah, and Marc Darcy, to name a few.

Charles Menswear is also Cumbria’s largest Wedding centre, providing suits for all occasions including wedding hire.
Charley says: “Since lockdown, we have taken on two new staff; this is thanks to the continued support we get from locals and those further afield. As we are cheaper than online prices, it helps keep us competitive, but I think the manner in which we look after our customers makes a massive difference, and in turn, they look after us.
