Moresby Hall was brought back to life in 2023 when it was bought by Joanne Arthur and Steph Eilbeck. They are now hosting weddings in their beautiful, historic grade 1 listed building.
Tucked away against the stunning landscape of the Western Lake District, only 2 miles outside Whitehaven, Moresby Hall is the perfect venue to help you realise your dream of an elegant country house wedding.
We specialise in hosting intimate weddings and civil partnerships with a maximum of 40 guests, and offer a range of intimate wedding packages that can be 100% tailored to your most exacting tastes and desires.
Hundith Hill Hotel has one of the best backdrops in the area. Looking out across the Lorton Valley and surrounded by fells it really is beyond picturesque.

Another excellent venue that shouldn’t be overlooked is the Crown and Mitre hotel, set in the heart of Carlisle. The historic building offers you the opportunity to say ‘I do’ surrounded by elegance. They have a variety of packages including their new package ‘Wedding in a box’ which is an all inclusive package at an amazing price and includes 50 day guests and an additional 50 evening guests as well as the ceremony room, meal and drinks packages and even room decor as well as loads more.
The Solway Hall in Whitehaven is another fantastic venue to hold your wedding this year. They have a fully licensed Wedding Suite and a large capacity reception room which can hold up to 200 guests. With tailored packages and hot and cold catering options it’s the perfect place to say I do!
If you are looking for a function room for your Wedding reception Maryport Amature Rugby League Club has a fantastic function room which can accommodate up to 150 guests.
