“This year there will be lots of summer games for all the family, including Master Dog – an IQ game for dogs and their owners. There will also be an appearance from Ted the Chelsea Pensioner who will be judging the cake decorating and rock decorating competitions at the fair.”

Calling all bakers and cake makers!

We are delighted to announce that there will be a Cake Decorating Competition at our Summer Fair!

How to enter?

  • Entry is £3 per cake.
  • Bring your fabulous cake along to our site on Saturday 15th July. There will be a tent in the main paddock to bring your cakes to, please drop them off no later than 12.30pm.
  • Please consider the weather when decorating your cake as we cannot guarantee they will be kept cool inside the tent.
  • Judging will take place between 12.30pm and 1.00pm, by wonderful Chelsea Pensioner Ted. The judging will be based solely on decoration (no tasting) and prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd – first place will win a hamper of goodies!
  • Once the winner has been announced entrants are able to take their cakes home. Please note that no food or drink that is not purchased on site can be consumed on our premises.
  • If you have any further questions, please email [email protected]

The Rock Decorating Competition will be held on the day with participants able to decorate a rock for £1 and choose to enter the competition for £1, with judging taking place between 2.00pm to 2.30pm.

Mrs Fell continued “Ice cream and dog ice creams, food and refreshments will be served on the day from The Tearoom and Education Room. This July there is a 10% discount on all takeaway food orders from The Tearoom, and you’ll get a free ‘Picnic For Pets Pack’ too. There will also be a cake stall in the central paddock, with a dedicated picnic area to sit on the grass and enjoy your Tearoom takeaway. We ask that the public use the bins provided or take their rubbish home with them.

“In Orchard Yard, you will find all kinds of fantastic second-hand bargains, including affordable pet equipment (for dogs, cats and horses), homeware, clothes, toys, gifts and other goodies too.

“Blackburn Woods opposite the Oak Tree site is going to be the site of a Teddy Bear Hunt! Buy a trail sheet from reception for £3 and search the woods for teddy bears hiding in the trees. Once completed, return your sheet to reception, and win a teddy bear of your own!

“There will be trained members of staff and partnered vets, Paragon and Coomara, available on the day to help with any pet-related questions. There will also be children’s crafts, equine demonstrations, a coconut shy, tin can alley, maypole, tombolas, and so much more!

“We hope to see you all there!”
