Remembrance Events

Carlisle

Lake District Coast Aquarium

A series of events will be held in the  area for remembrance Sunday . 

 Remembrance Sunday – City Memorial, City Centre (Greenmarket)

Date: Sunday, 13 November, 11am

The Mayor and Mayoress of Carlisle, Cllr Colin Stothard and Mrs Ellen Stothard will lead the Remembrance Day Wreath-Laying Ceremony, when the Two Minutes’ Silence will be observed, and a Wreath will be laid by the Mayor. Former servicemen and women are invited to form up at Paternoster Row at 10.30am ready to march to the War Memorial in Greenmarket for the service.  All welcome.

 

The County Remembrance Service – Cenotaph, Rickerby Park

Date: Sunday 13 November, 2.30pm

The Mayor and Mayoress, Cllr Colin Stothard and ­Mrs Ellen Stothard will join the Lord Lieutenant, High Sheriff and other dignitaries attending a Remembrance Day Wreath-Laying Ceremony, organised by the by The Royal British Legion (Cumberland and Westmorland County Branch).Wreath’s will be laid.

 

Workington

 Plans for Remembrance Sunday in Harrington and Workington

Services and Parades will be held in Harrington and Workington on Sunday 13th November 2016 to mark Remembrance Sunday.

 

The Harrington Parade will assemble at 9.30am at the Harrington Royal British Legion Club. The Parade will then begin at 9.40am and proceed to St Mary’s Parish Church in Harrington for a Church service at approximately 10am.

 

The Parade will then move to the Cenotaph for a short service before arriving back at Harrington Royal British Legion at 11.15am.

 

The Official in Charge of Parade will be Sergeant Ross Murphy.
The Workington Parade will assemble at 1.45pm on Pow Street. The Parade will then move off at 2pm. A service will be held at the Cenotaph in Vulcan Park at approximately 2.15pm.

Following the service at the Cenotaph, the Parade will continue to Our Lady and St Michael’s Church for the final service of the day at approximately 3pm.

 

The Official in Charge of Parade will be Company Sergeant Major Alan Edmondson, from 4th Battalion Duke of Lancaster’s.
