‘When we asked Whitehaven Town Council for an idea of their event plans for 2024, we expected more markets and the science show and we also expected something rather special for the 80th Anniversary of D-Day.
We got all of those, but it’s what we didn’t expect that gave us a the biggest surprise; Firewalking!
Whitehaven Fire Walk. Walk on fire and support charity. 20th February, 2024.
Yes, the town council are giving up to 100 Whitehaven residents the chance do a firewalk and in doing so, to raise money for their favourite charity.
The event will take place in St Nicholas Gardens at 5:30pm on Tuesday 20th February and its aim is two fold; firstly its a community event aimed at bringing people together in the town centre to watch a spectacle, but it’s also aimed at giving several charities a much needed lift.
Whitehaven Town Council will be nominating their preferred charities but individuals can also raise money for the cause closest to their hearts be it Cancer Research, the Dogs Trust or any other charity as long as the charity is properly registered.
Anyone wishing to take part should email [email protected] with their full name, age and postal address and the name and charity number of the charity they plan to raise funds for.
Priority will be given to Whitehaven residents first, but you are still encouraged to register if you live in the surrounding area in case there’s space available.
So there you have it, Whitehavens event year starts with glowing embers in St Nicholas Gardens and ends again with Fireworks on Thursday 5th December.’
