High Five to Wild on the Wall

On the back of last year’s success, the Wild on the Wall Family Festival is back, and they are celebrating five fantastic years of this small, family-friendly, furry festival.

Wild on the Wall will take place from Friday, July 26th, to Sunday, July 28th, at their stunning site near Hadrian’s Wall, Walton. Hopefully, it will be a year to remember for all the bright reasons. Well, it was slightly soggy last year, yet it didn’t dampen the spirits of all who attended.

For five years now, they have delivered a smorgasbord of local talent, and this year you can expect a similar serving with a few surprises along the way.

That’s the beauty of WOTW—their focus on Cumbrian talent is to be lauded and applauded.

It is proudly small, and the team behind the festival measures their success not in numbers but in smiles and positive vibes, both of which are abundant at this stunning historic hidden site.

Expect to see lots of kids, dogs, great local traders, and of course, lots of brilliant up-and-coming bands, all fusing to create a very special atmosphere.

You can almost imagine being back in the 70s, as this festival has that vibe and is similar to what you expect in the very early days of music festivals. Their tribal-style bonfire that is held on Saturday night, usually with a singalong and some roasting marshmallows, epitomises the whole event.

No doubt Dan Russell, who launched the event, will be found on the stage once or twice. Oh, what am I saying? He’ll be up there on all stages, getting in among them and joining bands across the three days. He can’t help himself and loves every minute of it. Dan said,

”The event is about celebrating, promoting, and showcasing Cumbrian talent, which people appreciate. Our site for Wild on the Wall is beautiful, set near the Roman Wall, where a river runs through the land, and with amazing views, all of which help make the event special.

I say this every year, but I love the atmosphere at Wild on the Wall. To see so many families pitch up and enjoy themselves over the weekend is fantastic.”

This year, over 40 local acts will perform over the weekend. Expect local favourites such as My Little Brother and Hardwick Circus and guests from further afield.

Get Involved!

The event team wants to hear from alternative acts such as circus performers, theatrical acts, and anything wacky and wonderful that all of the family can enjoy, and they are also looking for more food vendors—very importantly, food vendors that offer gluten-free and vegan options.

Expect great music alongside many local traders who will serve a wide variety of tasty dishes. Many stalls and lots of entertainment for the kids will all add to the ambience and help make this a year you won’t forget in a hurry.

Come and ‘create your own adventure’ festival as you can shop, do a workshop, get your tarot cards read, get your face painted, see some local live music, meet a character, get involved in many family fun activities, and more. You get to choose your own fun from their incredible selection.

Limited early bird tickets for the three-day event are now available, so be quick and save a few quid.

Bands, acts, and stall holders or traders can apply to join the fun by emailing Poppy Rowan at [email protected].
