The latest snapper to grab our attention is Kendal-based minister, the Reverend Jonny Gios.

When not on the pulpit, Jonny can be found capturing Cumbria in all its glory, and as it is known as God’s country, it is a perfect fit, we think.

Jonny’s go-to kit includes a Sony A7iv, 16–35 g, 24-105g, 200–600 m, and a DJI Mini 3 Pro.

He has been honing his skills over the last 20 years but has taken things more seriously over the last five years.

Jonny’s top three tips for someone taking up photography are as follows:

“Find a genre you are interested in and passionate about, whether that be sports, landscapes, people, urban, or wildlife.

You don’t need an expensive camera to start, just an eye for good composition;look at photos that other people have taken and think how you would take them differently but still show what or where it is, and remember, iPhones take some great pictures.”

Jonny advises joining a local photography group or a Facebook group.

“Ask questions or watch a lot of YouTube videos to gain as much knowledge as you possibly can, and finally, ask to tag along with someone you follow or whose style you admire.”
