Welcome to Cumbria & The Lake District; A Photographers Paradise!

Welcome to Cumbria & The Lake District

The Lake District is a photographers paradise and one page is dedicated to celebrating both the beauty of the Lakes as well as the art of photography.

Paul Wharton’s photography page Welcome to Cumbria and the Lake District is a beautiful example of how social media can create a positive and inspiring space.

Launched in 2010, Paul started the page as a way to explore his new hobby of photography, seeking inspiration from others. Fast forward 15 years, and the page has grown to over 300k followers, all coming together to celebrate the stunning beauty of the Lake District, wildlife, and other natural wonders of Cumbria.

“The page has grown to over 300k followers, all coming together to celebrate the stunning beauty of the Lake District.”

The page features breathtaking photos from all over the region and runs a popular annual competition for Photo of the Year. Each month, followers can submit their photos, with one monthly winner selected. At the end of the year, the monthly winners are compiled, and the community votes for the ultimate Photo of the Year. It’s a fun and interactive way for both amateur and professional photographers to share their work and connect with like-minded people.
