Growth, passion, and capturing moments that matter!

Herds Media, based in Cumbria, began as a small drone photography venture and has grown into a thriving multi-media company.
Founded by husband-and-wife duo Alastair and Sophie Herd, the company offers agricultural photography, wedding shoots, videography, drone footage, and more.
Alastair’s journey began after returning to Carlisle post-university, focusing on his drone photography. “It just snowballed. I started by doing drone footage for land agencies and then expanded into agricultural photography for H&H auctions and we just grew from there,” he recalls.

Sophie, passionate about wedding photography, joined the business and helped create their unique pricing model. “When we got married, we realised how expensive it was to hire a photographer and videographer. We decided to keep the price fully inclusive with no hidden costs,” Alastair explains. This approach has earned them trust and loyal clients who appreciate the transparency.
“Their dedication to storytelling through imagery drives them to deliver high-quality content in every project.”
The couple’s genuine love for what they do sets them apart. “We are more interested in helping people tell their story than in how much money we can make,” Alastair says. Whether capturing a wedding, documenting an agricultural event, or creating promotional content, their passion shines through in every project.

In March, they opened a new studio at The Coach House, Aglionby Grange, near Carlisle. The two-storey studio offers family portraits, couple shoots, and dog portraits. It also includes a podcast room for clients to create their own projects with top-notch equipment.
Fully equipped with lighting, backdrops, props, and editing stations, the studio provides a versatile space for both personal and professional shoots. Open by appointment Monday to Friday, with flexible weekend hours, the studio ensures exceptional results for every client.

“We really love what we do, and we believe that comes across in our work,” Alastair says. Their dedication to storytelling through imagery drives them to deliver high-quality content in every project.
Looking ahead, Alastair and Sophie are committed to further growth, with a focus on quality, transparency, and client satisfaction. Their journey proves that with passion and dedication, a dream can be turned into a successful business.
