Pumpkin Picking on the Farm Returns to Walby Farm Park for 2026
Pumpkin Picking on the Farm Returns to Walby Farm Park
One of Cumbria’s favourite autumn traditions is set to return this October as Pumpkin Picking on the Farm comes back to Walby Farm Park with thousands of home-grown pumpkins, brand-new family experiences and a new way to enjoy the pumpkin patch after hours.
Running from 3 to 31 October, Pumpkin Picking on the Farm has become one of the region’s most popular seasonal events, attracting families from across Cumbria, southern Scotland and beyond for a full day of autumn adventure.
Unlike many pumpkin patches, every pumpkin has been grown right here on the family’s working farm by Farmer Neil Milbourn. With twelve different varieties to choose from, visitors can wander through acres of colourful pumpkins before selecting the perfect one to take home, whether they’re looking for the smallest decorative pumpkin or a giant carving masterpiece.

Katie Milbourn, Director at Walby Farm Park, said:
“Pumpkin Picking has become one of those family traditions that people look forward to every year. We now welcome families who first visited us as children and are returning with children of their own, which is incredibly special.
“Growing the pumpkins ourselves means every season is different. We start planning months in advance and there’s always a sense of excitement as we watch the crop develop throughout the summer. Seeing families enjoying the pumpkin patch together makes all the hard work worthwhile.”

A visit to the pumpkin patch is just the beginning. Visitors can enjoy pumpkin carving on site, leaving all the mess behind, toast marshmallows over the fire pit, take aim with the Pumpkin Cannon and Slingshot, discover new themed photo opportunities throughout the patch and enjoy a range of seasonal treats from The Cowshed Café.
Every paying child also receives a FREE pumpkin, making it even easier for families to enjoy one of autumn’s best-loved traditions.
As with every visit to Walby Farm Park, Pumpkin Picking tickets include a full day at the attraction. Families can explore Cumbria’s largest Indoor Adventure Play Barn, meet the animals in the Animal Barn, enjoy daily activities and make the most of the outdoor adventure play areas, weather permitting.
New for 2026, Walby Farm Park is introducing Twilight Pumpkin Picking on Tuesday 27 and Wednesday 28 October. Included within the standard day ticket, the pumpkin patch will remain open until 7pm, giving families the chance to experience the fields as daylight fades and enjoy a completely different atmosphere without any additional charge.

Katie added: “Twilight Pumpkin Picking is something we’ve wanted to introduce for a while. We know many families love staying later in the day during half term, so this gives them the opportunity to experience the pumpkin patch in a whole new light. It’s the same great family day out, just with a little extra autumn magic as evening begins to fall.”
Whether it’s choosing the perfect pumpkin, capturing family photographs, enjoying seasonal food or spending the day exploring everything Walby Farm Park has to offer, Pumpkin Picking on the Farm has become one of the highlights of Cumbria’s autumn calendar.
