THE COUNTRYMAN, LAMPLUGH

One of the area’s most sought-after spots for locals, visitors, and food lovers alike.

The Countryman in Lamplugh is certainly proving to be a massive hit, with securing a table becoming something of a treat in itself.

This establishment is going from strength to strength due to the dishes on offer; the food is excellent, the price point is really reasonable, the ambience and design are impressive, and the service is top-notch.

Given the fast-growing reputation as a food destination and given the high demand for a seat at the table, owners Brian and Helen have recently redeveloped their outdoor area to accommodate more people while creating a stylish, elegant space that looks absolutely amazing, especially at dusk when the floor lights twinkle, bringing a vibe you would expect to find abroad.

The outdoor area is also proving popular with walkers, hikers, and bikers who simply want to stop off for a quiet pint in the great outdoors and just relax outside.

Brian is incredibly proud of his outdoor space; he designed it, but it was built by his son-in-law from SC Builders. Just remember that Brian designed it, or don’t, either way he’ll gladly remind you of that fact.

Brian beamed,

“It’s really nice to see it being used by so many locals. It’s absolutely buzzing. We’ve had so many great comments about the beer garden so far, and we’re quietly suffering from success at the moment.”

He smiles as he tells me this, which is well-deserved, as he and Helen have put their hearts and souls into this project.

More projects are in the pipeline, albeit slowly, as Brian has recently had his second knee replacement, so he’s trying to take it easy but is failing miserably. He’s still smiling, though.

In the near future, you will be able to stay on-site, either in your own mobile home or caravan, or you may book one of the proposed pods that will be arriving at some point in the future…

“There’s a lot of interest from people regarding when we will be open for caravans and camping pods, not just from people far away, but also locals who appreciate the idea of enjoying a nice night out without worrying about drinking and driving, and simply staying on-site,” said Brian.

Regarding The Countryman in Lamplugh, Brian advises, “Please book ahead; there’s nothing worse than turning people away and seeing the disappointment on their faces after making a journey and not getting in, all for the sake of a phone call.” So, you’ve been warned: book ahead; it’s worth it.

Overall, we give this place a solid 10/10. The staff make a real difference, and their huge effort ensures you enjoy your visit. As mentioned earlier, the food is indeed on point, and oh my, the chips, don’t get me started on those!
