Local Author to Launch Novel During Mental Health Awareness Week
Whitehaven, Cumbria, Local author Victoria C. Hughes will mark the release of her new novel My Heart, My Soul with a special community event on 14 May 2026 at St Beghs Social Centre. The event is designed to encourage meaningful conversations around mental health and suicide awareness, in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Week.
My Heart, My Soul tells the story of Charlotte, a woman in her forties who unexpectedly finds love, only to face profound loss. While fictional, the novel explores themes of grief and the lasting emotional impact on those left behind.
The evening will provide a supportive and reflective environment for attendees, featuring a range of activities aimed at fostering open dialogue within the community. The programme includes a short reading from the book, live music, guest speakers, a candle moment to honour loved ones, and interactive displays where guests can leave messages and reflections. Information and resources will also be available from Every Life Matters.
