Lee Payne, who hails from Barrow, has always had a keen interest in art, and oh boy, is he a talent. He uses oil paints to create some of the most stunning landscapes, and they are mesmerising.

Using photographs he’s taken himself from atop a mountain at daybreak or across one of the beaches at sunset, he captures the wilderness and atmosphere so perfectly that you can almost feel the breeze just looking at his paintings!

Lee said, “I love to capture the moody atmosphere that is created by different lights. I mostly paint from photos taken during the autumn and winter months at sunrise, when the light is at its best.”

“I often find myself with a head torch marching up a mountain at 4 a.m. just to get the best photos possible, allowing me to then use it as a template to paint later.”

His paintings really do speak for themselves; if you would like to see more of Lee’s work, then head over to his Facebook page, ‘Lakeland Art’.
