Book lovers, aspiring writers, and creative minds are warmly invited to the Cumbria Book Festival on Saturday 21st March, from 10am to 4pm at The Solway Hall in Whitehaven.

This exciting new festival will bring together talented local authors, independent publishers, and creative exhibitors from across Cumbria for a full day dedicated to celebrating books, storytelling, and craftsmanship. Whether you’re passionate about fiction, fascinated by local history, enjoy poetry, or love children’s literature, there will be something to spark every reader’s interest.

Visitors can browse a wide range of stalls showcasing newly released titles, hidden gems, and unique publications across multiple genres. It’s a wonderful opportunity to meet local authors face-to-face, have books signed, chat about their creative journeys, and perhaps even discover your next favourite read.

Beyond the bookshelves, the festival will also feature a variety of craft exhibitors offering handmade goods, literary-themed gifts, and book-inspired creations. From beautifully crafted notebooks to artistic prints and accessories, there will be plenty to explore. Adding to the fun, there will even be a costume competition, so why not come dressed as your favourite literary character?

Throughout the day, a programme of interactive workshops will run for attendees of all ages and abilities. Sessions will include traditional bookbinding demonstrations, poetry writing workshops, and guided journaling activities. These hands-on experiences are designed to inspire creativity, encourage new skills, and offer a welcoming space for anyone looking to explore their artistic side.

The festival will also host two engaging panel discussions featuring local authors and publishers. These sessions will provide valuable insight into the writing and publishing process, from first drafts to finished books. Audience members will have the chance to ask questions, gain practical advice, and take part in lively literary conversations.

The Cumbria Book Festival promises to be a vibrant, friendly, and inspiring event for readers, writers, families, and anyone who loves the written word.
