A long-awaited exhibition is set to open this Autumn at The Tracy Levine Studio Gallery
A long-awaited and major new exhibition of previously unseen work by acclaimed landscape artist Tracy Levine is set to open this autumn at The Tracy Levine Studio Gallery in Arnside.
Being There – The West Coast of Scotland
An Exhibition by Tracy Levine
Exhibition Dates: 27th & 28th September 2025, 4th & 5th October 2025
Location: The Tracy Levine Studio Gallery, Arnside

Titled “Being There – The West Coast of Scotland,” this powerful new collection has been five years in the making. During multiple visits to the Hebridean Islands and the dramatic West Coast of Scotland, Tracy immersed herself in the wild beauty of these remote and atmospheric landscapes.
Painting en plein air in all weathers on secluded beaches and rugged shores, she created over fifty paintings on location. Back in her studio, Tracy developed a further body of work including large canvases and oil paintings, while the vivid memories and emotional connection to the places were still fresh.

Key locations that inspired the collection include: Isle of Harris, Isle of Skye, Ullapool, Isle of Mull, Iona, and Ardnamurchan.
The exhibition captures the elemental drama, shifting light, and raw beauty of these magical places. In a particularly poignant moment, Tracy obtained special permission to visit an isolated beach rarely accessed by the public. There, surrounded by silence and sea, she experienced what she described as “a transcendent place between heaven and earth.”

From that visit came the title piece, “Being There”—Tracy’s largest painting to date—a work of impressive scale and emotional depth that demands to be seen in person.

Alongside the large-scale works are smaller plein air pieces, painted spontaneously on-site. These vividly express Tracy’s immediate, emotional response to fleeting moments of weather, colour, and light. From serene, idyllic beaches to storm-swept skies and moody lochs, the collection offers a deeply personal interpretation of Scotland’s wild coastal beauty.
This exhibition is a celebration of connection—to land, sea, and sky—and an invitation for viewers to experience, through the artist’s eyes, the profound sense of Being There.
Private viewings by appointment are also welcome.
