Tirril & Sockbridge Open Studios: Artists in Action
Tirril & Sockbridge Open Studios: Artists in Action
Three local artists will be showcasing their work as they work, which takes place across three different studios in Tirril and Sockbridge from May 18th to May 26th, 10am to 5pm each day.
You will see the artists in action, hands-on, creating in front of your very eyes, and they will feature painting, sculpture, and printmaking.
Some work will also be displayed in the gardens, and at Sockbridge Mill, there are lovely riverside walks to enjoy during the day.

Haydn Morris specialises in painting the Cumbrian landscape, working from his studio in the centre of Tirril. Favourite subjects that he captures include the Lakeland Fells in all their moods and traditional buildings in their natural environment. Haydn works mainly in oils and watercolours. You can find the Burnrill Studio three doors up from the Queen’s Head Inn, a great place for a pint and a bite of lunch.

Debby Akam will be showing abstract paintings on canvas, watercolours, and original woodcut prints. She is inspired by her garden, the Cumbrian landscape, travelling, and practicing yoga. Her studio is at Sockbridge Mill, just south of Tirril.

Also at Sockbridge Mill, Gary Power is showing his third series of Tintotem sculptures, which have been featured at the Royal Academy and the Royal Scottish Academy. Some of Gary and Debby’s work was made in India during an international art residency earlier this year.
For those who haven’t been to an open studio day before, it is a great experience to see artists in action and chat with the artists as they work, also, as it’s an open studio, the whole experience is free to enjoy for one and all.
