Pride by the Harbourside returns this August!
PRIDE BY THE HARBOURSIDE RETURNS
A Celebration of Unity, Inclusion, and Community

Cumbria Proud and Diverse is excited to announce the return of their annual Pride by the Harbourside event, taking place this August 16th on Whitehaven’s beautiful harbour.
Since its debut in 2023, this free community celebration has grown into a must-attend event featuring live music, food stalls, vendors, and much more. Last year, the event attracted thousands of people to the harbourside and everyone had a fantastic time!
Glenn Anderson, Director, shared, “The whole idea of the event is inclusivity within the community. We want everyone to have the opportunity to enjoy an event like this without having to worry about the cost. It’s completely free, and that’s what makes it special.
We have a cracking team who make this happen led by director Alan Davies and this year’s chair Aaron Groggans, from Lakeland Life CIC who is bringing lots of fresh energy and enthusiasm to the event’

Although the event has become synonymous with celebrating the LGBTQ+ community, Pride by the Harbourside is about much more than that. It’s a celebration of all forms of diversity, including religion, disability, gender, and anything else that makes us unique. Everyone is welcome!
However, putting on an event of this scale isn’t easy and comes with significant costs. The festival relies heavily on the generosity of local sponsors. In previous years, local businesses have played a crucial role in making the event a reality, but there’s always room for more to get involved.
Glenn added, “This year, we’d love to see smaller organisations get involved. It doesn’t take thousands of pounds to make a difference—every contribution has a huge impact, and all funds raised go straight back into our community work, allowing us to continue hosting these events year-round.”
