Proud and Diverse Cumbria are bringing Pride by the Harbourside back to Whitehaven for the third year in a row, with a full day of celebration planned for Saturday 16th August, 2025.

The event, which runs from 12pm to 7pm, will once again take place around the Queens Dock Car Park and the harbourfront, offering a vibrant mix of live music, community engagement, and family-friendly fun.

The first acts announced are global DJ and producer Russell Small, known for his work with The Freemasons and Phats & Small. With over 30 years of experience in the music industry, Russell is set to perform an exclusive Freemasons set that will bring the energy and atmosphere Pride-goers have come to love. He will be joined by the sensational Katherine Ellis, one of the UK’s most powerful and recognisable dance music vocalists. Her voice has featured on chart-topping tracks including ‘When You Touch Me’ by The Freemasons, ‘Dreaming’ by Ruff Driverz, and ‘Lost’ with Roger Sanchez.

Adding even more excitement to the musical line-up are Ross Alexander & The Blitz Kidz, a dynamic trio who revive 80s anthems with a modern twist. Their bold stage presence and high-energy performances are sure to get the crowd moving. More acts, including standout local talent, will be announced in July, promising even more reasons to join the celebration.

“This year, we’re celebrating community and how far Cumbria has come in embracing equality and diversity.”

Throughout the day, the harbour will be filled with things to see and do. Visitors can explore a wide range of stalls showcasing local businesses, food vendors, crafts, and LGBTQ+ organisations.

Emergency service providers will also be in attendance with vehicles on display, and families can enjoy a variety of activities including bouncy castles, trampolines, and a dedicated youth zone. The Bandstand near Zest will host further entertainment and activities set up by Rosehill Theatre, adding to the inclusive and creative atmosphere. A fully licensed bar will be available on site, run by The Rolling Pub Co., offering refreshments throughout the day.

As the sun sets, the celebrations will continue with an after party at Colours Café. The evening will feature DJs, live music, karaoke, and a party atmosphere that promises to keep the Pride spirit alive well into the night. Full details and ticket info for the after party will be released soon.

Glenn Anderson, Festival director said: “This year, we’re celebrating community and how far Cumbria has come in embracing equality and diversity. We’re proud to have the support of a fantastic council and an MP who truly engages with everyone.

While we stand with our Trans community, we’re a small team and not equipped to lead that national conversation. Our focus this year is simply to celebrate life in all its colour, together.

Thanks to our incredible team and generous sponsors, we’ve raised enough to stage a free, family-friendly outdoor event at Whitehaven Harbour. With performances on both the Mott MacDonald and Rosehill Theatre Harbourside stages, expect a vibrant mix of local and national acts.”

Pride by the Harbourside continues to be a joyful, inclusive event that brings together people from all walks of life to celebrate diversity, community, and love in the heart of Whitehaven. Whether it’s your first time attending or you’ve been every year, Saturday 16th August is shaping up to be a day to remember.
