For Marcin Kęsicki, launching My Next Sofa in Workington is about much more than selling furniture. It is about creating a different kind of shopping experience, built around quality, honest advice and helping customers find something that genuinely works for their home and lifestyle.
Marcin has lived and worked in the UK for more than a decade and, since 2023, has worked across Cumbria as a fibre broadband engineer. His job has given him the opportunity to meet people and communities throughout the region, while also inspiring him to pursue his long-held dream of running his own business.
“I have always dreamed of building my own business,” says Marcin. “I believe that success comes through hard work, honesty and consistency. These values inspired me to create My Next Sofa.”

The small, family-run business aims to offer the quality and personalisation usually associated with much larger and more expensive furniture showrooms, while maintaining the friendly, personal service of an independent local business.
Marcin says the idea came partly from hearing customers talk about disappointing furniture purchases. “Many people chose a sofa simply because it was in stock or looked nice in the showroom. Later, they realised it wasn’t comfortable, didn’t suit their lifestyle, or couldn’t be adapted to their needs.”
At My Next Sofa, customers can take their time, explore their options and create furniture suited to their individual needs. The range includes sofas, corner sofas, sofa beds, beds, mattresses and handmade dining chairs, with a choice of fabrics, colours, sizes and configurations.
As a direct importer working closely with a trusted family-run manufacturer, My Next Sofa can also offer bespoke options and premium-quality furniture at competitive prices.
“We take the time to understand each customer’s needs rather than simply trying to make a sale,” Marcin explains. “Our goal is simple, to give customers access to furniture and customisation options that are often only found in much more expensive showrooms.”
The showroom is located at Unit 6D, Bessemer Court, Adams Road, Workington, CA14 3YS, with free local delivery, professional assembly and flexible finance options also available.
For Marcin, it all comes back to one simple idea: helping customers choose furniture they will genuinely love and enjoy for years to come.
