Nestled in the heart of Carlisle, Luna Amatores has quickly become one of Cumbria’s most unique and popular independent retailers. While many know the shop for its stunning crystal jewellery and alternative gifts, its ever-expanding homeware collection is proving just as irresistible to customers.
With lots of exciting new stock arriving regularly, shoppers will find an eclectic mix of homeware designed to bring character and charm into every corner of the home. The shop’s carefully curated collection blends gothic, spiritual, alternative and bohemian influences, creating a shopping experience unlike anywhere else in Cumbria.
Specialising in all things alternative, the shop offers everything from stunning crystals in all shapes and sizes to handmade jewellery, locally made wax melts, candles, home décor and unique handcrafted creations.
Owner Korin began the business from home in 2013 before expanding into pop up shops and markets. In 2022 she opened her first retail space in Fisher Street Galleries before moving into her current premises on Castle Street, Carlisle.
“I knew I needed to find somewhere more permanent and because there was nowhere selling alternative jewellery, gifts and homeware in Carlisle, despite the demand being there, I wanted to give people something a bit different,” said Korin.
That vision has certainly paid off. Korin has been recognised with numerous awards, including Best Crystal Jewellery & Homewares Company – UK at the LUX Global Excellence Awards. More recently, she was awarded Unique Jewellery Business of the Year at the 2024 Innovation & Excellence Global Awards, while Luna Amatores was crowned Best Handcrafted Crystal Jewellery & Homeware Shop 2024, North West England at The Perfect Gift Awards.
The shop itself is beautifully presented, with treasures waiting to be discovered at every turn. Shelves are filled with unusual gifts and decorative pieces, while carefully styled displays showcase the latest homeware collections and seasonal arrivals.
Korin also creates much of the jewellery herself, with her chunky chain crystal necklaces proving especially popular.
