Flora, fauna and four-legged friends with Gemma Keith Designs
Flora, fauna and four-legged friends
Gemma Keith creates beautiful designs depicting the beauty and character within the flora and fauna she brings to life through her art.
by Danni Murphy
Using a range of mediums from watercolour to pencil and ink, Gemma Keith captures the tiniest details of the animal or plant she paints or sketches.

She said: “I have always had a knack for art. I spent many days as a child painting flowers like daisies and dandelions.”
“I have always found peace when I have a brush in hand.”
Hailing originally from Kent, two years ago Gemma took a huge leap and made a solo move up here to Cumbria, she said: “I have always loved the Lakes, we always holidayed up here when I was young, its my favourite place in the world and I just decided that this is where I wanted to be.”

Gemma set up her business Gemma Keith Designs eight years ago this May. Her beautiful images are printed on a myriad of homeware items such as mugs, tea towels, tote bags and cushions, she explained: “I began by drawing animals and selling the framed pictures in my local pub, however I find that creating art that just hangs on a wall a bit boring, I wanted to venture into something a bit different. I love the idea of wearing art on a scarf or implementing it onto everyday life items like a mug or tea towel.”

Most of her work features wildlife such as hedgehogs, owls and squirrels, but she also loves dogs and has various designs of different breeds in her collection.
