This year, Whitehaven has an action-packed lineup of events that are guaranteed to get everyone’s engines revving and the whole town buzzing with excitement! From vintage vehicles to classic motorcycles and even the awe-inspiring return of a tall ship, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Kicking things off is the much-loved Leyland Bus Event in the first weekend in May. returning once again to the picturesque marina. The harbour will be lined with beautifully preserved vintage buses, giving visitors a rare opportunity to step back in time. Not only can you admire these classic vehicles, but you’ll also be able to hop on board and take a ride, making it a truly immersive experience. Year after year, this event continues to delight visitors of all ages, with children especially loving the chance to explore these historic buses up close.
Then, on June 20th-21st, just in time for Father’s Day, motor enthusiasts can look forward to a spectacular Motorcycle Show organised by Whitehaven Town Council. Expect to see an incredible mix of vintage machines, custom builds, and timeless classics all gathered in St Nicholas Gardens. Whether you’re a devoted biker, a casual fan, or simply curious, this free-entry event promises thrills, nostalgia, and plenty of photo opportunities. It’s the perfect way to celebrate the day with the family or fellow motorcycle aficionados.
Adding even more excitement to the year, there are whispers of the return of a tall ship to Whitehaven’s harbour. Last year, our town was graced by a stunning replica galleon, which drew hundreds of visitors eager to explore its decks and experience maritime history firsthand. The sight of such a majestic vessel against the backdrop of the harbour was truly unforgettable, and anticipation is building for what could be another breathtaking maritime spectacle this year.
