You’ve probably heard about this weekend’s CULTURE BAZAAR, one of the major highlights of the year on Carlisle’s multicultural calendar! But have you heard about Multicultural Carlisle’s (MCC) evening event, the TWILIGHT SESSIONS?

Picture the scene, it’s Saturday 16th February the infamous CULTURE BAZAAR has opened its doors, delighted your senses and gone to sleep for the night (until the following day!)….but you’re still yearning for more – you’re all fired up and Raring to go! Well, worry ye not, as MCC have got the lights down low and somewhere else to go.

Their debut fundraising gig, the TWILIGHT SESSIONS and what a night of performances they have in store, with a fusion of East & West like never before seen in Carlisle.

Featuring not one, not two, but three exclusive performances! Firstly, there is MORRIS-NATYAM – a unique collaboration of traditional Indian Bharatanatyam and English Morris Dancing, presented by our Cumbrian based Indian gem, Priya Sundar.

The performance incorporates a mini live orchestra with musicians who will be travelling from London for this special event, led by South Indian classical musician, Vijay Venkat. Secondly, there is BLUEJAM ECLECTIC – An original combo, drawn from their professional and youth Jazz, Folk and A Cappella bands, led by Penrith based music guru, Jilly Jarman. Jilly has arranged this lively mix of local musicians and singers especially for this evening, so it’s a one off treat!

The headliners of this exclusive event are THE B3ATS, an exotic fusion of East and West, with traditional Indian instruments (including Dhol and Tabla drums) and singers, interspersed with the West, a live MC and DJ. This is brought to us by CULTURE BAZAAR’s popular International performers, PUNJABI ROOTS’ who are travelling back to the UK from a tour in Canada to showcase their full live band THE B3ATS vs DJ LIVE set!

As if this wasn’t all enough, Multicultural Carlisle have let it slip that there may also be a few surprises during the evening from Appleby’s multi-talented Astral Circus….so what are you waiting for? Grab your friends, gather the family, and get yourself down there!
