Children’s Book Launch: A Magical Afternoon of Stories and Smiles

Families are invited to join a heartwarming celebration at the Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice, Penrith Charity Shop, for the delightful debut of Doctor April and the Rainbow Farts, a children’s book by local author Lisa Jackson.

Taking place on Saturday 19th July at 2.00pm, this joyful afternoon promises a magical storytelling experience nestled in the shop’s cosy book nook—complete with cushions and charm, making it the perfect setting for little readers and their families.

This special afternoon will feature:

  • A meet-the-author session with Lisa

  • A live reading from the book

  • A book signing opportunity

Lisa’s first published book is a fabulous, fun-filled tale about a young girl who visits the hospital and meets the unforgettable Doctor April. It’s a story sure to capture the hearts (and giggles) of young readers and their grown-ups alike.

In Lisa’s own words from the book:
“As well as medicine and rest and care, I also use a sprinkle of kindness and a dash of magic to help.”

It’s a message that beautifully reflects the spirit of Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice, where compassion, care, and a little bit of magic go hand in hand.

Holly Parkinson, Retail Operations and Development Manager, shared:
“Our shops fund specialist care for local people living with a life-shortening illness as well as supporting their loved ones. We are so grateful to have Lisa’s support, and we are thrilled to be launching her first book in our Penrith Charity Shop. We can’t wait to see you!”

Come along, bring the little ones, and be part of this wonderful celebration of storytelling and imagination.

No booking required.
