Founded by Alice herself, the shop was bought by her niece, Suzanne, two decades ago. What began as a temporary job at just 17—a brief escape from Lancashire—quickly turned into a lifelong passion. Captivated by the charm of the shop and the warmth of its community, Suzanne made Carlisle her home. Her passion and dedication have kept Alice Fashions thriving, blending its cherished heritage with fresh energy and a personal touch.
Many loyal customers have been returning for decades — not just for the clothes, but for the sense of belonging they find here. As Suzanne puts it,
“It’s so much more than a shop—it feels like a community. My customers become friends, and we’ve built a great online following as well. Most people who wander in end up sharing a cuppa and a bit of craic. I often welcome entire families — grandmothers, daughters, and granddaughters. It’s wonderfully old school in the best way.”
