WILD ON THE WALL IS ALMOST HERE
The festival that celebrates joy, community and good music.

As far as grassroots festivals go, Wild on the Wall has quietly built a reputation as one of Cumbria’s most welcoming weekends away.
It doesn’t rely on huge headline acts or flashy attractions. Instead, it focuses on what festivals were always meant to be about: bringing people together through great live music, beautiful surroundings and a genuine sense of community.
This year, Wild on the Wall returns on 28th, 29th and 30th August, with a new Bank Holiday date and an even bigger programme of entertainment, all set against the stunning backdrop of the countryside near Walton, Brampton, alongside Hadrian’s Wall.
What makes the festival so special is that it never tries to be anything other than itself. Run as a Community Interest Company, it remains proudly independent and completely non profit, with family, friendship and community at the heart of everything it does.
As organiser Dan explains: “It’s a gathering, a celebration, a party, a festival. We’re here to join together, enjoy the music and enjoy each other’s company.”
That simple philosophy is what keeps people coming back year after year.
The festival has become a favourite for families looking for a relaxed introduction to festival life. Under 12s can attend free of charge, hot showers are free, dogs are welcome, and there’s a friendly atmosphere that makes visitors feel at home from the moment they arrive.
If you’ve got toddlers or younger children and have been thinking about trying your first festival, Wild on the Wall offers the perfect setting. It’s small enough to feel safe and manageable, while still offering everything you’d expect from a great weekend of live entertainment.
Music is, of course, at the heart of the event, and this year’s lineup is one of the festival’s strongest yet. Friday’s headline performance comes from The Beat featuring Ranking Jnr, continuing the legendary ska band’s legacy with an energetic set packed full of classic hits. Saturday sees Dub Princess & The Hotsteppas top the bill, bringing their infectious blend of reggae and dub, while Sunday closes with acclaimed electronic duo Lowes. They’ll be joined across the weekend by an impressive supporting lineup including Revolutionaires, Hardwicke Circus, Shaka Loves You and a host of Cumbria’s finest musicians alongside artists from further afield.
Away from the stages, there’s plenty more to discover. A dedicated circus tent will host workshops and activities throughout the weekend, while independent traders, food vendors and local creatives all add to the festival’s unique character.
The location only adds to the experience. Nestled beside Hadrian’s Wall, the site offers stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere that perfectly complements the festival’s laid back feel. It’s the kind of place where children can make new friends, dogs are greeted with a fuss, neighbours become friends and strangers quickly feel like part of the community.
In an age where many festivals have become increasingly commercial, Wild on the Wall continues to champion the independent spirit that has always defined it. It’s about people rather than profits, shared experiences rather than spectacle, and creating memories that last long after the final band leaves the stage.
Whether you’re a seasoned festival goer or considering your very first camping weekend, Wild on the Wall offers something refreshingly different. Great music, welcoming people, beautiful surroundings and an atmosphere that’s impossible not to enjoy.
Or, as many regulars like to joke, perhaps it should be called Mild on the Wall because it’s just so wonderfully chilled. One thing is certain. Here, you’re never just another ticket holder. You’re part of the family.
