World-class DJs to descend on Carlisle Castle

First Ever Music Festival in Carlisle Castle

World-class DJs to descend on Carlisle Castle.

World-class DJs who collectively have millions of followers & legendary bands such as The Happy Mondays plus Dalston’s very own Sarah Story are all part of Borderlands Festival lineup coming this September.

Borderlands Festival, which takes place at Carlisle Castle, is the first ticketed music festival to be held in this iconic, historical setting.

Topping the bill

If you are a regular visitor to Ibiza and cannot get enough of techno, house, electro, and disco, then you will no-doubt know of Patrick Topping, who will be headlining Borderlands Festival on the Friday.

Also on the bill in this inaugural festival, which runs over two days, are Eats Everything, KiNK (Live), Sarah Story, Beth, and Ki Creighton.

Borderlands Festival will also host legendary bands alongside some of Cumbria’s finest up-and-coming artists. Bands performing on Saturday include the Happy Mondays, Friendly Fires, Nightmares On Wax (DJ), Novablood, and DelaGrave.

Using Carlisle Castle as a venue is a major coup for Matt Tyson from Borderlands Festival. Matthew has been working on the concept for over 8 years.

It is also a coup for the city, and the lineup for this inaugural festival speaks volumes about the ambitions of the team.

The castle grounds will be alive with thousands of festival goers, and the atmosphere will be electric. There will be lots of Cumbrian artisan food and drink stalls to keep you fed and watered over the weekend, which will add to the vibe.

Festival Director Matt Tyson said: “As someone who has lived in the area my whole life, I will be immensely proud to see local musicians strut their stuff alongside world-famous legends in such an iconic local setting. As well as being a great advertisement for Carlisle and Cumbria, we hope Borderlands will showcase Carlisle Castle as an entertainment space and inspire other ambitious events across the wonderful historic sites we have in the county. I’d like to thank the staff at Carlisle Castle for their support in making this happen and the rest of the festival team for all their hard work.”

Be a Part of History.

Carlisle Castle, which was once a Roman Fort, has never held a music festival before; this will be the first of its kind, so come and be a part of something special and make history happen.
