Taste Cumbria Cockermouth update
Business as usual on Saturday, but cancelled on Sunday
Regretfully we have had to make the decision to cut short the Taste Cumbria food festival in Cockermouth this weekend due to a forecast of very high gusts of wind.
The good news is that everything will go ahead on Saturday, but we are unable to hold the event on Sunday.
As event organisers, Cumberland Council’s top priority is the health, safety and welfare of our visitors, staff and traders. We’re used to rain in Cumbria, but unfortunately windy conditions can be highly dangerous where gazebos and marquees are concerned.
Stalls will be open from 10am to 5pm on Saturday in Main Street, Market Place and Memorial Gardens Car Park.
The Market Place Street party is still going ahead, and there will be live music on the main stage in the drinks tent on Memorial Gardens, as well as acoustic musicians on Main Street and Market Place.
Also in Memorial Gardens Car Park is the hot food court and a children’s fairground. There will be children’s entertainment, including some crazy science experiments, in The Vicky shared workspace on High Sand Lane, and there will also be walkabout street theatre all around the town.
Friday night’s Supper Club is still going ahead, as is the Cocktail Masterclass on Saturday. Both are ticketed events and are sold out.
Don’t forget the wealth of independent shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants in Cockermouth which will be open and please pop in and support them too.
