As the nights draw in and the pumpkins light up, Cumbria is preparing for Halloween!

From spooky castles and historic houses to lively family parties and magical theatre shows, there’s something for every little ghoul and ghost this October half-term. Here’s a look at some of the fang-tastic highlights you won’t want to miss.
Muncaster Castle – Halloween Family Festival
25 October – 2 November 2025
The legendary Muncaster Halloween Family Festival returns for another thrilling year, promising a week packed with pumpkin-fuelled fun and family-friendly frights. After the roaring success of 2024, this year’s festival is set to be even bigger. Expect spellbinding entertainment, spooky trails, and plenty of Halloween surprises against the magical backdrop of Muncaster Castle. It’s the perfect mix of history, atmosphere, and family adventure.
Moresby Hall – Spooky Kids Party
Friday 31 October 2025 | 5:00pm – 7:30pm
For a more intimate celebration, head to Moresby Hall for their ever-popular Spooky Kids Party. With tricks, treats, and themed snacks, children can enjoy a fun-filled evening in a safe, friendly environment. It’s a perfect way for little ones to celebrate Halloween night close to home.
The Milbourne Arms, Carlisle – Kids’ Halloween Party
Friday 31 October 2025
Hosted by The Milbourne Arms and BJ the Children’s Entertainer, this lively event in Carlisle is sure to be a hit. Kids will enjoy tasty snacks, a soft drink, a goodie bag to take home, and a Halloween magic show guaranteed to amaze both children and adults alike. Adults go free, but must accompany their little monsters!
£7 per child (inc snacks, drink, goodie bag, and magical show)
Wordsworth House – Spooky Autumn Crafts
25 October – 2 November 2025
Step back in time at Wordsworth House and soak up the seasonal spirit. After exploring the historic home, families can get creative in the Discovery Room with spooky autumn crafts. With everything you need provided, it’s a wonderful hands-on activity for children and parents alike—perfect for keeping Halloween half-term cosy and crafty.

Rosehill Theatre – Natascha the Witch
Friday 31st October
If you fancy something a little different, head to Rosehill Theatre for a charming family production. Based on Steven Lee’s beloved story How The Koala Learnt To Hug and Other Australian Fairytales, this gentle, heartwarming show follows Natascha the Witch as she struggles to get some sleep. Blending live action, music, and animation, it’s a cosy, magical theatre experience designed for little ones and their grown-ups.
