Gary McKeating – Photographer In Focus – In this edition our photographer in focus is Harrington based Gary McKeating and we really don’t need to say much because his photo’s do all the talking.
He primarily focuses his photography on the landscapes and areas in and around the West Coast of Cumbria, his most recent project was documenting the restoration of the two lighthouses on Whitehaven’s piers and the images are awesome to say the least.
Using a Nikon D610 or D4 camera he captures some absolutely stunning images. Having taken up the hobby 10 years ago he has spent much of that time developing his skills and practicing, his top tips are: “When you get your camera, type the make and model into youtube and watch some tutorials and find out all the different things you can do with it.
“Secondly I would say anticipate lighting. If it’s sunny on one side and cloudy on the other then there’s more than likely a rainbow somewhere, take in everything around you, you could be missing something spectacular!”
“Lastly, practice like mad, for as long as you can and have patience, sometimes you have to wait a long time for a great photo but it is worth it!”
