A night of live jazz from Cumbrian collective in aid of the Park Triplets appeal, at Florence Arts Centre in Egremont.

Saturday 11 March: Live music continues at Florence Arts Centre in Egremont this March with a special charity concert from the Marcangelo Jazz Collective, raising funds for the Park Triplets and family.

This very special evening will feature the combined talents of John and Cath Marcangelo, Dean Newton and Steve Wildgoose performing jazz standards and classics in the intimate surroundings of Egremont’s Florence Arts Centre.

John Marcangelo, a former pupil of jazz drumming legend Philly Joe Jones, has worked with Johnny Dankworth, Joe Harriot, Phil Woods, Annie Ross and the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, is joined by Dean Newton on guitar. Dean has recently become honoured as a sponsored featured artist for Tokai, the Japanese guitar company. He graduated from London College of Music in 2011 and is in constant demand with projects ranging from Jazz to Heavy Metal and all styles in between. His online Jazz Jam of the Week has followers all over the globe and he regularly plays at Florence’s monthly Flo Jazz night.

On bass, Steve Wildgoose is also a member of the excellent Kikbak, and a regular at Zeferelli’s in Ambleside; this Lakes based musician is a welcome addition to the line-up for this gig. Exquisite vocals are provided by Cath Marcangelo, who has been a regular guest vocalist with Award-winning Fat Chops Big Band. She has taken her jazz combos all over the globe and she has performed with he likes of Jack Jones, Jay Corre (Tenor Sax, Ella Fitzgerald/ Buddy Rich), Jim Trimble (Trombone, Buddy Rich).

All proceeds form the sale of tickets will go towards supporting the family of Rachel Park who tragically died at her home in Whitehaven on Boxing Day 2016. Rachel and her husband Steven had been celebrating the homecoming of triplets Poppie, Mollie and Evelyn who were born at 26 weeks in March last year when the family suffered an unimaginable tragedy.
