Cumbria Guide 9 May / June 2022
What a busy summer we are all in for it would seem that Jubilee-Mania will hit every city – town & village across the country. Here in Cumbria, there are thousands of people busy planning away getting set for a long weekend of festivities.
We will witness history in the making as Her Majesty The Queen will become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee after 70 years of service, and we can’t wait to watch as Cumbria turns red-white-and-blue.
Anniversaries are the order of the day – and we do love celebrating and sharing important milestones. Carlisle Cathedral and Cumbria’s Museum of Military Life celebrate 900 and 90 years respectively, and The Hundith Hill celebrates their 40 years.
We put the spotlight on Workington in this edition as there is so much more than meets the eye to this ancient town. There has never been a better time to visit Workington as so many fantastic events are lined-up throughout the Summer, meaning a few trips are certainly on the cards.
Read all about Jamie and Ted – the sheep who are taking Instagram by storm and why are these beautiful herdies making such an impact on social media?
Local artists shine brightly as always amongst our pages, and a few Doctors feature in this edition.
We look at The Bleep Doctors, who continue their life-saving work, and our Photographer in Focus is also a Doctor who has her finger on the pulse when it comes to great shots.
So, dive in and find out what’s happening near you this summer, and remember to follow us on our social media sites @thecumbriaguide for updates – information and great deals from great local companies.
Have a fantastic Jubilee, and please do share your pictures via our social media platforms.
We would love to see them.
