Blooming under new management
The Blue Bell in Dalston has been thriving since new owners Eddie and Vicky took over earlier this year.

Serving fantastic pub meals, a great pint, and plenty of good craic, The Blue Bell in Dalson is quickly becoming a must-visit spot.
Although both Eddie and Vicky have years of experience in the hospitality industry, this is their first venture running a place of their own. Eddie explained: “We’ve always worked in pubs and restaurants, and we decided it was time to take on a new challenge. It’s been fantastic since opening. The support we’ve had from the community is second to none, and we can’t thank the village enough for their unwavering encouragement.”

The menu is packed with pub classics — from fish and chips to steak pie, and of course, Cumberland sausage. All produce is locally sourced wherever possible, using trusted suppliers such as Interfresh, Pioneer, the Fish Cellar from Penrith, and Steve Wilson’s Butchers. The result is fresh, flavour-packed dishes that speak for themselves.
Inside, The Blue Bell offers a bright, airy, and country-inspired setting — relaxed and welcoming, perfect for a family meal or a pint with friends. The beer garden is a real suntrap, with sheltered high walls that block the wind, making it a cosy spot to enjoy the last weeks of sunshine before autumn fully arrives.

“The support we’ve had from the community is second to none, and we can’t thank the village enough for their unwavering encouragement.”
Eddie, who works as head chef, has spent years perfecting the art of taking traditional favourites and giving them a spectacular twist. Meanwhile, Vicky manages the bar and floor, keeping everything running smoothly.

“We want our customers to feel relaxed the moment they walk in,” they said. “Our friendly, welcoming staff are all local to the community and bring plenty of smiles and great service — something we believe is really important.”
The couple say they’ve been overwhelmed by the loyalty of their regulars. “We’ve got fantastic customers, most of whom we see every day enjoying a pint and a chat. We’re so grateful for their kindness and support from day one.”
The Blue Bell is already taking bookings for Christmas and New Year’s Eve — and spaces are filling fast.
So whether you’re local, passing through on your way to Carlisle, or simply looking for somewhere new to try, don’t hesitate to pop into The Blue Bell.
You won’t regret it.
