All Aboard! Hammonds Pond Railway
Carlisle and District Model Engineering Society have been running the model railway at Hammonds pond for decades. The much-loved attraction is open for the public every Sunday until the end of October and is a huge hit with children.
Set up in 1936 the Carlisle and District Model Engineering Society have seen generations of enthusiasts tinker and chug on this mini railway. It’s a fantastic place to take the children, enjoy a picnic and have a ride at a cost of only 50p!
Set in the beautiful surroundings of Hammonds Pond it really is the perfect place for a Sunday stroll. The park offers visitors the chance to see all kinds of wildlife, from the ducks and water dwelling birds to songbirds and squirrels, it’s a great place to birdwatch or take photos and just enjoy the autumn flora and fauna.
There are various trains which run on the railway and for just 50p-a-ride, it offers a great day out without costing a fortune. The Railway opens to the public every Sunday from 2pm until 4pm until the end of October.
