Rusty’s Treat Box – ‘A Sweet shop for Dogs’
Well, that’s how one customer described ‘Rusty’s Treat Box’ to owner Christine.
Rusty’s Treat Box is the pongiest shop in Penrith, and there is good reason for that as they specialise in 100% natural dog treats; think chicken necks, duck feet, and turkey wings. Pork strips; lamb braid; roast beef; goat skin rabbit ears; venison ears; pig ears; and, of course, sausages.
There are lots of other smelly yet oh-so-tasty treats that your dogs will just love, with new stock coming in every week.
This pawsome little shop is situated on Little Dockray, Penrith, amongst lots of other great local independents.
“We can’t believe the support we have had since opening our doors,” said owner Christine. “I don’t think it would have taken off in any other town as well as it has in Penrith. There’s a lot of support for each other, which is so nice.”
Christine used to go to events as a trader, selling her Natural Treat Bags, but soon got tired of being rained on and getting stuck in the mud at many events.
“As a shop owner who loves dogs, this is the best job in the world,” said Christine. “I have two of my own, one called Rusty, after whom the shop is named, and Lucy, a Romanian rescue dog that I got from the amazing Penny Jones Animal Hospice, which is a lovely little sanctuary.”

“Here at Rusty’s, you will find lots of products that are all natural—no rawhide, no chemically treated goods— we simply stock animal by-products that have been air-dried, and we also sell grain-free products, ensuring there are no adverse reactions for dogs as our products are hypoallergenic. As well as the air-dried foods, we also stock and sell ethically branded products and also shampoos, chews, antlers, toys, snuffle mats, snuffle balls, and snuffle snakes.”

Rusty’s Treat Box is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays.
