The Guide’s New Music – Toothfish

The Guide’s New Music – Toothfish are a zesty hard-rocking band from Carlisle that came together out past and present members of bands like Falling Red, The Dissident Youth, From Here on Out, The Sun Explodes.

With such diverse tastes, you’d think creating original music would be difficult but according to guitarist Lewis Thomson, the band’s process can be quite natural:  “Some of our songs are quite spontaneous, someone will be twiddling away on something and another person will join in and it comes together like that.  It’s always an interesting process and there are times when someone will come in with an idea and we’ll all play around with it.  It’s interesting what can happen when someone brings an idea or a song to the table, it can often go in a direction you wouldn’t think.”

It’s hard to pin an exact genre on Toothfish who can be anything from heavy metal or hard rock through to blues while the band cite influences like Guns and Roses, Oasis, The Eagles or 90’s grunge.

Toothfish consist of singer Scott Devlin, Tom Cairns on percussion, Russell Laidler on bass guitar, Corey Whittaker on lead guitar with Lewis Thomson on rhythm.

The group released a superb EP of heavy rock tracks earlier this year and plan on bringing out an original new single – Every1s A Winner – in October, which will be followed by more tracks later this year.
