It’s all about the Dog!

Love dogs?  Oak Tree Animals’ Charity in Wetheral Shields is putting on an event that celebrates everything we all love about dogs combined with Easter fun and an Easter Trail on Saturday 9th April, 10.00am – 3.00pm.  As well as the usual fun and games throughout the day, the Charity is delighted to be joined by Morag, an ex-resident of Oak Tree, now a fully qualified Mountain Rescue Dog, who will be making an appearance. Their Fun Dog Show, which will be judged by none other than the Mayor of Carlisle, will be from 1.00pm and is open to all dogs and owners (see their website or Facebook page for the classes, register on the day).

‘Master Dog’ – a fun chance to measure your dog’s IQ – will run throughout the day as will ‘Have a Go Hoopers’, Dog Parkour and ‘Have a go Agility’! For those dog artists out there, Snuffle Painting is a must (you even get to take your dogs’ masterpiece home!).

Without a dog? Don’t let that put you off! There will be games galore, including three (yes three!) tombolas, so don’t forget your change! Lots of activities for children will include crafts and Funfair- style games. Their Tearoom will be serving delicious food and drink all day with additional refreshments available around site. Don’t forget the brilliant Orchard Yard Jumble Sale and Shops will also be open for business.

Oak Tree staff will be on hand offering free Behavioural Consultancy while their Community Team will be available throughout the day to answer any questions you may have.

The ‘Art for Animals’ competition winner will be announced just before the Fun Dog Show (artwork will be on display in their Frank Tebbutt Building).

Caroline Johnson, General Manager, says “Our Easter Dogs’ Day Out provides us all with an opportunity to come together to celebrate everything ‘dog’. So many of us rely on our canine companions to brighten our lives and we very much hope you can join us for what promises to be a fantastic day out for the whole family!”
