Oak Tree Animals’ Charity is a wonderful charity based in Carlisle. Founded in 1909 by Francis Cox who was campaigning for better working conditions for pit ponies.
Today it has grown and expanded and the fantastic team now helps hundreds of animals year after year. In recent years they have established a chain of charity shops to help fund the work they do and care for the animals that so desperately need their help.
They currently have seven charity shops all around the County and one in Hexham. They sell a range of clothing, pet supplies, home accessories and bric ‘a’ brac. Each item sold contributes to the charity and their work. They get no government funding so rely purely on donations, fundraising and their charity shops for fi nancial support.
Mike McCormack, Retail Operations Manager at Oak Tree Animals’ Charity, says “We want to thank everyone who supports our shops throughout the year including our brilliant volunteers and everyone who donates and buys from all our shops”
With fast fashion becoming a major environmental problem, by using Oak Tree Animals’ charity shops – you are not only helping the animals in their care but you are also doing something positive for the planet.
Oak Tree Animals’ Charity isn’t just a rescue centre, they do so much more than that. Their team also get involved with local schools to educate students about animals. They support feral and farm cats with a trap and neuter scheme, offer nutrition and basic training advice and so much more.
