CHRISTMAS IN PENRITH
CHRISTMAS IN PENRITH – On Saturday 19th November, Penrith’s Town centre will come alive with music and laughter and LIGHTS! Plans are brewing which include a collection of street performers, live music, singers, dancers, Santa, crafts, lantern parade and much more.
From 2pm Market Square and Cornmarket will be a hub of activity for those enjoying an afternoon shopping. From 12noon until 4pm there is a free decoration and lantern workshop in the Devonshire arcade which we hope inspires the local children to join the parade which starts at the Town Hall at 5.30pm. Then the grand illumination is at 6pm followed by more entertainment.
Strictly speaking, we can’t possibly confirm who is pressing the plunger for the actual lights switch on so watch this space for update or follow the event on @discoverpenrith facebook page. It may be that you know the right person and can have your say. Event Manager, Annabel Candler from Creativise Events, explained:
“This year we would love to ensure a space in the limelight for your local hero. This may be someone who stepped up to help your family, sacrificed time for your street, rescued your cat or just was a truly kind and generous neighbour this last year. Send us a paragraph about them, how we find them and if you want your nomination to stay secret or not. They may be chosen to assist with the switching on of the town’s lights!”

The event will also be supporting some incredible organisations such as Penrith Mountain Rescue and be supported by the Lions of Penrith, the Devonshire Arcade, Penrith Library and Carlisle Rotary. We are very excited to create and enjoy a day fit for all the family.”
