It’s been 17 years since Andrew Furness took on Walkmill Motors at Moresby, Whitehaven.
Car sales, servicing, repairs, and Mots are what they do; it’s a real family business that sees father and daughter, Chloe, working in harmony alongside each other.
Andrew says, “We sell premium used vehicles – mot’s – service and maintain all to the highest quality.”
On the repair and maintenance side of the business, our highly trained technicians and mechanics take on all jobs, from brakes and suspension to timing belts, clutches and flywheels and anything else you can think of.
We take on jobs that many garages shy away from because of the skillsets of our workshop team.
As for car sales, we scour the nation for the best and most reliable vehicles on the market, sometimes spending up to 15 hours a day searching. Here at Walkmill Motors, we are extremely picky about what we bring onto our forecourt.
When people buy a vehicle here, the package includes 12 months MOT with no advisories; if a car is due for a timing belt, we will change it before it leaves us. Each vehicle undergoes a 180-point check, and every vehicle comes with a warranty, ensuring peace of mind for the buyer,” says Andrew.

For instance, our mechanic Paul is a mechanic, not a fitter. He lives, breathes, and loves what he does and is at the top of his game.
When we MOT and service vehicles here at WM, we approach each one as if we were doing it for a family member. We want each vehicle to be safe and not cost a fortune.
We must be doing something right as we are performing over 2,000 MOT’s a year and servicing 1,000’s of vehicles.

The support has allowed us to grow and also take on apprentices, which is important to us here. Our latest apprentice-schemes has seen our administrator Chloe achieve a distinction in Level 3 Advanced – in business administration, meanwhile our mechanic Adam Hope is set to achieve his Level 3 NVQ in mechanical engineering by the end of the year; so the future is safe in their hands.”
