Theatre By The Lake Win Most Welcoming Theatre Award
Theatre by the Lake is delighted to announce that for the third year running it has won the award for Most Welcoming Theatre in the North West. It is one of 12 regional winners with the overall winner to be announced at the UK Theatre Awards 2016 on Sunday 9 October 2016.
The award, which is voted for by the public, is an opportunity for audiences to celebrate their local theatre. This year over 200 theatres competed for the coveted title.
Julian Bird, Chief Executive of UK Theatre, said: “Theatres play a vital role in communities across the UK, so it has been wonderful to see so many votes cast. This campaign brings together audiences, theatres, performers and producers and gives everyone the opportunity to celebrate their local venue.”
Conrad Lynch, new Artistic Director and Chief Executive of Theatre by the Lake said: ““We are delighted to have received this award and would like to say a huge thank you to our audiences for voting for us; the support we get from our local community, and beyond, is truly fantastic. The award is also testament to the hard work and dedication of our volunteers at Theatre by the Lake who go the extra mile to give our audiences a warm welcome, as well as the wonderful staff – both customer facing and behind the scenes – who make this theatre the special place that it is”.
The annual UK Theatre Awards take place at London’s historic Guildhall, where the ceremony will be compered by Lesley Manville OBE. This year’s nominations demonstrate the breadth and depth of talent and achievement in theatre and the performing arts throughout the United Kingdom, on and off stage.
Theatre by the Lake has also been shortlisted for a Dementia Friendly Award for Dementia Friendly Organisation of the year. The awards are run by the Alzheimer’s Society and celebrate the achievements of individuals, organisations, projects and partnerships in creating dementia-friendly communities around the UK. Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on 30 November.
