If you’re looking for a pint with personality, a dance floor that dares you to let loose, and a sporting atmosphere that could rival Wembley on match day, The Throstles Nest in Wigton is the place to be.
Once a quiet, unassuming pub, The Throstles Nest has undergone a remarkable transformation over the past two years. Since taking the helm, its owners Steve and Kelly Barton, who swapped factory shifts and classroom duties for the fast-paced world of hospitality, have turned it into one of Wigton’s liveliest social spots. “We just wanted to do something together,” they explain, “and when this opportunity came up, it just seemed perfect.”

“Whether it’s for a match, a gig, or just a great night out with friends, The Throstles Nest has cemented itself as Wigton’s go-to destination.”
Now, it’s a hive of activity. With multiple large screens showing everything from Sky Sports and TNT to DAZN and Amazon Prime, sports fans are never short of a game to watch. The atmosphere is electric on match days, whether you’re cheering with mates at the bar or catching the action from the comfort of their walled beer garden, complete with its own outdoor bar for those rare but glorious days of Cumbrian sunshine.
For those who prefer their competition up close and personal, the pub also boasts a pool table and darts boards, with regular competition nights.

But The Throstles Nest isn’t just about sport. The owners have breathed new life into the venue’s events calendar, creating a nightlife scene that appeals to the younger crowd without alienating long-time regulars. The spacious dance floor is the epicentre of their party nights, hosting everything from local live bands to nationally acclaimed tribute acts.
The next big gig? Almost Pink—a powerhouse Pink tribute act—hits the stage on 4th October. Tickets are already flying, so early booking is essential. Tickets are available from the pub.
They’ve also just announced Adam Bell, who will be performing solo acoustic, on 29th November at 8pm – not to be missed!
Whether it’s for a match, a gig, or just a great night out with friends, The Throstles Nest has cemented itself as Wigton’s go-to destination. Keep up with their event line-up on Facebook or pop in for a pint!
