Up and coming Whitehaven band The Lavetts are back with a new, long overdue EP ‘Do it Yourself’. The EP is set to be the band’s first release in over 2 years with release on the 3rd September 2022, the new EP consists of 5 songs, both old and new, Inside in, Silent Disco, Can’t You See, Psycho and Dotage. You can listen to the tracks on your choice of streaming platform through links found on the bands social media pages as well as keeping up with upcoming gigs and news.
The new EP, recorded this year features 3 of the bands previously released tracks, but these are all re-recorded and re-mastered. The EP was recorded and mixed from home stemming from some demos recorded throughout the pandemic, giving the EP its name ‘Do It Yourself’. Discussing the process behind the EP the band said ‘These are all songs we’ve been gigging for years inside and outside of Cumbria, so hopefully anyone who’s come to any of our gigs will be familiar with them.
We recorded all ourselves, with most of the recordings done in my attic with some help from our mate Jake Mcnicholas from The Northern Threads. So make sure to check them out as well. We feel as though the name is fitting, there’s a good mix of songs on the EP, with everyone fetching their own take on the songs, so hopefully everyone can enjoy it.’
The four-piece indie rock quartet have enjoyed a firm ascent since previous releases, from headline gigs in their hometown to further afield in Cities such as Manchester. The band are constantly writing new material so have much more in the pipeline for future releases.
