Slimming World Success for Natalie!
Natalie Simpson, local lady, drops from a size 22 to a size 12 in just over a year & wins local groups Woman of the Year Competition and becomes a Diamon Member having maintained her weight loss for a year, and continues to maintain following Slimming World Slim for Life programme.
Natalie never intended to join her local Slimming World group back in July 2021, she joined quite by chance. Natalie was featured a recent Slimming World magazine celebrating their 25th anniversary edition.
In her words says “I was in the right place at the right time. As a support worker/personal assistant my days are different depending on the needs of the client.
My client advised me that he had a 12-week GP Slimming World referral. On Thursday 29 July 2021 we went along to Carlisle United Football Club where we were warmly welcomed by Slimming World consultant, Emma Davies.
Emma gave my client an enthusiastic new member talk. I listened and was so impressed by the amount of unlimited food, which is allowed on the plan, and that you can tailor meals to suit what kind of food you like.
I was also impressed by the look of the literature in the member pack and the recipe books which were on display. So, I decided there and then to sign up and give Food Optimising a go. It is one of the best spontaneous decisions that I have ever made. I am so pleased that I joined Slimming World!
I had tried other diets in the past: Slim Fast drinks, Atkinson Diet and Scarsdale Diet.
I think that the previous diets did not work for me in the past because I wanted a quick fix, and I always went back to eating the same as I had done before starting them. My weight loss journey with Slimming World has been relatively quick, in just over one year I have lost 6 Stone & half a pound, and I am now a target member, maintaining my new target weight. Food Optimising has now become a new way of life for me. I understand the plan and I believe in the science of Food Optimising.

I am thrilled with my weight loss. I feel much more confident now and have changed the way I dress.
I recently completed the Couch to 5k running plan which I thoroughly enjoyed and went on to attempt longer distances. I registered for the Carlisle 10k Race for Life on 30 July 2023, which was sponsored by Slimming World this year, to help raise money for research into all types of cancer. I successfully completed this in 1 hour and 3 minutes. On the day I received a mention for being one of the highest fund raisers.
Prior to my Slimming World journey, I had never really felt that my weight impacted greatly on my way of life, or the activities that I was able or willing to do. Having lost 6 Stone, I am finding physical activities so much easier than they used to be, so plan to be a little more active, or at least a little less tired doing the activities I had done previously.
I do plan to do more running but essentially, I want to live the same life that I did previously but in a much healthier way.
I like the science behind Food Optimising and being able and encouraged to have unlimited amounts of Free Food from a huge list. What is great too is that I can choose the foods that I and my family like. The significant changes I have made have been small swaps such as using Fry Light spray instead of lashings of butter and oils. I am now eating much more Free Food to fill me up than I ever did before.
My favourite Slimming World recipe is a fish stew called After-work Bouillabaisse.
I do eat out regularly and I have been on several overseas trips whilst on my Slimming World journey. All the holidays were fully inclusive.
I love going to group on a Thursday. Slimming World consultant Emma Davies is so enthusiastic and supportive of everyone. Throughout the week members from Emma’s 6 groups can connect with one another and share ideas and recipes on a closed Facebook group.
Emma has given me the encouragement and tools to make choices about food and the confidence to believe that all of us at group can succeed along our individual journeys.
Attending group each week and staying for Individual Motivation and Group Experience Therapy was and continues to be a massive support in maintaining my current target weight. It is a happy place, full of encouragement, inspiration, friendship, sharing information and supporting one another through the highs and lows.
Food Optimising really does work. I have lost 6 Stone in just over a year!
The Slimming World magazine is full of interesting articles and recipes. Reading real life stories with before and after photos is so motivational. I read the magazines from cover to cover. I was so excited to feature in a recent Slimming World magazine as part of their 25th anniversary edition.
Natalie attends her local Slimming World group, which is run by consultant and Team Developer for Carlisle Central, Emma Davies and is held every Thursday at Carlisle United FC, Brunton Park, in The Glass Bar. Emma runs six different groups every Thursday at either 7;30am, 9am, 10:30am, 4pm, 5;30pm or 7pm and can be contacted on 07712258890 for any further information.
