STITCHING THROUGH THE SEASONS

Autumn and Winter workshops at Carlisle’s Superior Sewing Centre.

by Danni Murphy

From handmade Christmas gifts to cosy winter creations, Carlisle’s Superior Sewing Centre is helping local crafters make the most of the colder months, with a range of workshops, expert advice and everything needed to get creative.

As the nights draw in and we start spending more time indoors, autumn and winter are the perfect seasons to pick up a new hobby or revisit an old favourite. And if you have been thinking about trying your hand at sewing, making something special for Christmas or finally tackling that project you have been putting off, there is plenty of inspiration to be found at Superior Sewing Centre in Carlisle.

Established in 1993, the family of sewing enthusiasts served by this long standing specialist continues to grow, with the centre offering everything from sewing machines and fabrics to haberdashery, yarns and quilting essentials. Whether you are a complete beginner or a seasoned stitcher, there is plenty to discover.

Based at Phoenix House on English Damside, the centre stocks a wide range of sewing machines and equipment from leading brands, including Bernina, Brother, Janome, Pfaff, Singer and Babylock. There is also an extensive selection of fabrics, threads, accessories and supplies for all kinds of creative projects.

Of course, choosing the right equipment can sometimes feel a little daunting, particularly if you are just starting out. That is where the experienced team comes in, offering friendly advice to help customers find what they need, alongside servicing and repairs to keep sewing machines in good working order.

But Superior Sewing is about much more than what you can buy off the shelves. Its programme of in store workshops offers a chance to learn new techniques, build confidence and meet other people who share a love of making things.
