Lake District Jewellery Helps Raise Funds for Local Heroes
The team at Keswick jewellery store, The Necessary Angel, have thanked everyone who has helped them to raise funds for Lake District Mountain Rescue Search Dogs (LDMRSD), one of their chosen charities last year.
This amazing specialist team is dedicated to the training, developing and deploying of Search Dogs within the Lake District Mountains & Fells, with all handlers operational members of Mountain Rescue Teams within the Lake District.
Funds were raised from sales of The Mountain Range jewellery and from collection boxes and gift wrapping for a donation during the festive season.
Deborah Cowin, designer-maker at The Necessary Angel, explained: “Myself and Tessa hand make The Mountain Range jewellery here in Keswick and as it depicts the beautiful scenery of The Lake District it was fitting we made a donation for every piece of the collection sold to Lake District Mountain Rescue Search Dogs.”
Last year they raised £280 from sales of the range and a further £76.41 from the collection boxes and gift wrapping. As training one of the dogs can take on average 7,500 hours over 3 years costing upto £6,000, donations are vital.
Deborah added: “Seeing Broch, a puppy who is just starting training, sat next to Isla and Rona it makes you realise how much attention and training these dogs need to join the team.”
Handler and volunteer with the LDMRSD, Martin Bell said: “We are always incredibly grateful for any fundraising efforts and donations, whatever their size. Our training and operation is all made possible by voluntary donations, and as such any contribution is most welcome. Our thanks go to The Necessary Angel for organizing and contributing to this effort handsomely.”
The Necessary Angel will continue to support LDMRSD throughout the year. Visit their Keswick store to view and try on The Mountain Range jewellery, knowing that a purchase will help raise funds for an amazing charity.
