Local businesses in Mid Copeland – join our Community Vision events
The Mid Copeland GDF Community Partnership is holding two events for local businesses to tell us what they think a Geological Disposal Facility (GDF) could mean for the area. Help create a Community Vision by letting us know what’s important to businesses in Gosforth electoral ward.
- Location: Seascale Golf Club, Seascale, CA20 1QL
- Date: Thursday, 3 July 2025
- Time: 3pm – 4pm – with option to join Cyber Security Escape Room, 4-5pm
5.30pm – 6.30pm – with option to join Cyber Security Escape Room, 6.30-7.30pm

Business Lead for the Partnership, Yvonne Clarkson, said: “As well as having a conversation about a GDF, Nuclear Waste Services is on hand to offer practical cyber security advice plus a chance to take part in an interactive ‘escape room’ to help protect businesses in the digital age.”
Community Vision:

Cyber security:
Receive valuable, tailored advice from Nuclear Waste Services’ cyber security team on safeguarding your business against digital threats.
Escape Room:
Join the Cyber Security Escape Room afterwards – a team-based experience where you’ll work together to solve cyber-themed puzzles and uncover hidden clues. A dynamic way to sharpen your cybersecurity awareness!
Nuclear Waste Services is the developer of a GDF, an underground facility designed to safely and securely dispose of the most hazardous radioactive waste.
The Mid Copeland GDF Search Area covers the electoral ward of Gosforth, which includes Seascale, Gosforth, Beckermet, Calderbridge, Haile, Thornhill, Nethertown and Braystones. The Lake District National Park is excluded from consideration to host a GDF.
