Fat Dads are Bouncing
As I write this, Spotify is open, and the speakers are blaring out ‘Double Time’, the latest single by northern band Fat Dads.
It’s one long driving hook of pure funk, fun, and foot-stomping happiness. I love it.
One for the car with the windows down, the sun shining, and the volume up; it is a classic summer track that makes your head bounce up and down and there isn’t a thing you can do about it.
The Fat Dads are taking to the road this year with gigs in Manchester, Sheffield and Kendal Calling and more gigs in the pipeline.
The five-piece who hail from Carlisle and Kirkcudbright, are still relatively new to the scene but have already amassed a decent following online with over 70,000 plays on Spotify alone.
So far, they have had a sellout EP, made it into the top 20 on iTunes, and made their way onto Radio 1 and Radio X.
Fiercely independent with no label, management, or PR, the Fat Dads are a testament to what can be done with a bit of hard graft: talent, catchy tunes, and good banter online as they build their fan base and reputation.
