Event Navigation

A fusion of theatre, with this story of a busy night in the local curry house, and cookery, when the actors are joined by Nurul Hoque from the Akash Tandoori restaurant in Whitehaven, offering a spicy cookery demonstration as part of the performance. Indian-themed supper in the Green Room restaurant afterwards an optional extra.
The story of The Chef Show centres on father and son Abdul and Khalid on a particularly busy night in their restaurant. As they struggle to deal with all the customers ‘out front’ and the staff in the kitchen they also must decide on the future of the family business. Will Khalid carry on the family business, or is this the end? Much of the fun of the show comes from seeing just two actors playing multiple roles, and all in the same scene!
A deliciously entertaining show (taster food will be available) in which the actors become presenters, bringing the audience into a light-hearted discussion about food and cookery techniques and finding out a bit more about running an Indian restaurant and the working lives of those who do.
This is a chef’s special, a deliciously funny and occasionally dramatically-daring concoction of a play. (British Theatre Guide)
The best thing I’ve seen, smelled and tasted in ages! (Audience review)
The show will start at 4pm on Sunday 25 February and will be followed by an Indian inspired supper in The Green Room at approximately 6.30pm.
Tickets for the show are priced at £15 (£8 U26) and for the supper and show at £35 (£28 U26).
